Casey celebrates with Howell after that hole-in-one.
Paul Casey's hole-in-one on the 14th sealed a win for him and David Howell 5&4 over Stewart Cink and Zach Johnson in the foursomes. The first hole was shared in ugly bogey fives, but after that the European pair found their rhythm with three birdies in a row to take a commanding lead, Johnson crucially missing from four feet on the fourth. A par on the fifth was enough to put the English duo in total control and they remained four up through the turn thanks to a run of solid pars. Johnson had fired seven birdies in 17 holes in the morning fourballs but could not buy a putt in the afternoon, and an American bogey put the European pair five up. A couple of pars would be good enough for the win but Casey decided something more spectacular was required, holing his tee shot on the 14th to seal a 5&4 victory. That meant Cink did not even need to hit his tee shot, and was even conceded a hole in one as well as it did not matter to the result of the match.
