howell/stenson v cink/toms
Howell thinks he's sunk the winning putt on 18.
David Howell and Henrik Stenson halved with Stewart Cink and David Toms in the afternoon foursomes. Left out of the morning action despite being ranked 13th and 11th in the world, Howell and Stenson lost the second to a birdie, but replied in kind on the next two. Cink and Toms birdied the fifth to level what was proving the best scoring match of the foursomes. Each side turned in 33 before Howell's six-foot birdie putt on the long 10th put the Europeans ahead for the second time. The next four holes were halved, but Howell hit a horrible wild drive into the lake on the 15th and Cink hit a superb bunker shot to a foot at the next. Howell had missed the green, but his partner chipped to within three feet and it was halved in birdies. The 17th was shared in pars and with both missing the fairway at the last that was shared too when Toms lipped out from 25 feet and Howell was a fraction away as well from 20.
